West Marin includes the Point Reyes National Seashore, the ancient redwoods of Muir Woods, and is home to spectacular, precious natural landmarks.
The region also boasts many sites of historical significance. Kule Loklo is a replica village of the original Coast Miwok people who inhabited Point Reyes and the surrounding areas for many centuries before western explorers arrived.
In 1579, on his way to circumnavigate the world, Sir Francis Drake landed at Drakes Bay, which he named New Albion, which is Latin for “New Britain”.
